Imphal, April 13:
The proscribed RPF and its armed wing the PLA have extended its deep gratitude to the people for turning out in large number to pay homage to the memorial sites of the slain PLA cadres at Cheiraoching today.
In a statement, the outfit thanked the people, NGOs, students, clubs and meira paibis for putting in their best effort to pay fitting tributes at the memorial sites.
The outfit also acknowledged the contributions of the MFC, medical, water supply and transporters for their help and co-operation.
The statement also said that it shares the heart breaking experience of those who could not pay their tributes as the time had expired.
In a different tone the outfit came out strongly against the 22 MLI and Bishnupur police commandos and accused them of dismantling the memorial sites of the slain PLA cadres at Kodompokpi.
The sites were desecrated in the night of April 12, charged the outfit.
RPF further said that to inconvenience the people, stones were thrown into the water tank kept at the foothills of Cheiraoching as well as inside the tank kept atop the hillock.
Even the water was drained out.
The statement further accused the security forces of using derogatory remarks against the women folk who had turned out to pay their homage.
The outfit also thanked all those who lit up torches at the gate of their residences in response to the call issued earlier.
The solidarity shown by the people on the occasion has pumped in more courage on cadres of the outfit to carry on the fight to regain sovereignty of the land and the people, added RPF.
