Taking serious note of absence of teachers at the place of their posting in hill districts, Lok Sabha MP Dr Thokchom Meinya raised concerned over the matter.
Speaking as chief guest on the concluding day of Ching-Tam Unity Sports at Kharam Pallel, 3 kms away from Kotland along NH 53, Meinya noted that condition of the lone UJB school of the village is pathetic.
He, however, assured to prevail the matter upon minister concerned to improve the school's condition.
Dr Meinya is said to be the first MP of the State to visit the village and was accorded a warm reception.
Kharam Pallel Village Authority also submitted a memorandum to the MP highlighting various woes of the village such as lack of transport infrastructure, educational facilities, drinking water etc.
While assuring all possible help from his side to ameliorate the woes of the village, the MP iterated that a detail report concerning the underdevelopment of the village would submit to the State Government and press to redress the plight of the villagers at the earliest.
In the closing function of the sports meet jointly organised by Manipurgi Ngamkhei Kanba Lup (MAN-KAL) and Kharam Pallel Youth Development Organisation, president of MANKAL L Achoubi Meitei, Kharam Pallel village chief RT Khouchung, president of UCM K Langamba Meitei and member of Yarou Bamdiar Zilla Parishad S Nabakumar attended as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, K Langamba noted that the Kharam tribes though small in number have been successfully preserving their own distinct culture and tradition.
He also reminded that UCM has initiated several efforts to restore the age old cordial relationship between the hills and valley.
As a result of an intensive discussion, it has been realised that all the inadequacies and shortages in all the remote villages of the State are more or less.
UCM has been urging the State Government to make up the shortages, iterated Langamba.
