Seeking protection under the Domestic Violence Act 2005, a woman has filed a criminal complaint case before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Thoubal for the first time in Manipur.
Admitting her case, the Court headed by Brajachand Singh today registered it for further proceeding, disclosed Advocate Meihoubam Rakesh who is appearing on behalf of the complainant identified as Manileima Devi (37) of Laphupat Tera village, Thoubal district.
According to the case dossiers, on April 22, 2001 the respondent Th Noyon Singh (45) of Khongangpheidekpi in Imphal East, an employee of 23 BN Shastra Shema Ball (SSB) asked her to come to his house for some domestic help and accordingly she went.
But after reaching his house, Noyon raped her and threatened with dire consequences if she disclosed the matter to anyone.
To save her reputation, she kept mum and later she fell in love with him.
Noyon is a married man having two children.
The case dossiers further said that on September 11, 2004, Noyon eloped with her and they stayed together at Adabari in Assam where he was posted and later when they returned to his house to stay.
But after some days the police arrested them and they were separated.
At the relevant time she was pregnant.
Noyon again eloped with her in November 2004 and stayed together at a hotel in Imphal before shifting to a rented house at Mantripukhri.
In December a quarrel broke between them during which he pressed her abdomen leading to a miscarriage.
In November next year she went to his posting place and stayed there as husband and wife and later they stayed together at his residence and on December 31 he left for his posting place by leaving her at his house.
On January 4 this year his first wife spiked some unidentified tablets in her food and after consuming it she had acute pain in her abdomen, the dossiers said adding later it was established that the unborn child in her womb was already dead.
Without giving any valid reason he and his first wife severely bashed her up and asked to leave the house.
Subsequently she left and stayed at Laphupat Tera village.
The complainant prayed before the court to restrain him and her first wife from throwing her out his house and issue a direction to him to pay Rs 3000 per month as maintenance fee and Rs five lakhs as compensation for the physical and mental damage caused to her.
Before registering the case the court had on May 21 already recorded the complainant's testimonies.
