Imphal, Aug 06: An informer of police commandos who was behind the arrest of many UG cadres was pulled up by RPF today.

Despite his crimes, he would be handed over to family members to give a chance to rectify himself after reprimanding him not to undertake such activities in future, said a spokesperson of RPF.

The apprehended youth is identified as Sapam Nikki alias Shaolin (19) of Porompat Chuthek.

According to the disclosure made by Nikki himself, he was an SP tablet abuser and was nabbed earlier by AMADA for cycle theft and drug abuse.

The accused was paraded before media persons today somewhere Thoubal district during which he disclosed that one SI of Imphal East police commando Nawang used to give Rs 200 to 600 from time to time to search for the hide-outs and shelters of UG cadres.

He mentioned that Nawang was also known to his maternal uncle adding that the money he received thus was spent on SP tablets.

Acting on the information provided by Nikki, a commando team led by SI Nawang nabbed a PLA cadre identified as Tomba Kongba Kshetri Leikai in June this year besides one KYKL cadre Santosh from Bishnupur Bazar and a PULF activist Khomdonbi Bibi.

Not only that he led commando teams to Khurai Heikru Makhong and Tinsid road in a bid to nab UG cadres though without success.

Nikki was nabbed by RPF cadres on August 3 from Sekmaijin bridge.

In all his works, one Mombi of Porompat was his accomplice, disclosed Nikki while adding that Mombi is at present in Cachar.

He further said that SI Nawang is from Telepati and is a close friend of his maternal uncles Longjam Dinesh and Tombi.

Taking strong exception to the strategy adopted by State police of using young boys by providing them money and drugs, the spokesperson noted that such activities are not only against the insurgents but also to the whole nation.

Maintaining that people ought to condemn such anti-national activities being undertaken by the State law enforcing agencies, he warned the State police against pushing young boys into the trap of drugs.

He further said that Nikki would be handed over to family members though meira paibis so as to give him a chance to rectify himself.
