Imphal, Sep 03: Central Special Force of UNLF has punished a 28-year old man for allegedly trying to molest an elderly woman by pumping a bullet on his right leg somewhere in Thoubal district today .

Apart from shooting at his right leg, the accused has also been warned of capital punishment if he commits such crimes in future.

The accused is identified as one Kshetrimayum Krishnadas (28) s/o Kshetrimayum Mangi of Kakching Moirangthem Leikai.

Krishnadas allegedly tried to molest the 44-year old woman while she was returning home from Imphal on July 29 last at around 6.30 pm near Kakching Turel Achouba Litan Thong.

Krishnadas gagged the woman, whose four fingers on the left hand are missing, and tried to violate her chastity by holding her from behind.

The woman raised a cry drawing the attention of the local people who chased Krishnadas.

After the incident, the woman herself lodged a written complaint to the Central Special Force of UNLF on August 1.Acting on the complaint, Central Special Force of the outfit investigated the matter and found out the truth and accordingly Krishnadas was given the punishment, a spokesperson of the Central Special Force told mediapersons.

The spokesperson further said considering that fact that the crime was committed on a 44-year old woman who could be very well of his mother's age, capital punishment would have been befitting.

But since Krishnadas has confessed to his crime and surrendered to the outfit voluntarily, a lighter punishment in the form of shooting at his left leg has been given this time.

But in case he does not mend his ways and commit the same mistake in future again, there would be no mercy and capital punishment would be given, the spokesperson warned.

The accused Krishnadas who was also paraded before mediapersons confessed to his crime and pledged not to commit the same in future.
