Imphal, November 01: Following the non-arrival of Chief Minister O Ibobi at his destinations today even hours after the scheduled time, tension and fear gripped the top police officials and bureaucrats of the State.

The Chief Minister left Kangla today morning in a chopper to attend functions at three different places of Tipaimukh and Henglep sub-divisions of Churachandpur district.

As the top officials were informed of the non-arrival of the Chief Minister at the designated destination hours after the scheduled time, the top officials of the Police Department really sweated it out to contact the Chief Minister and a panicky situation gripped the inner circle of the SPF Ministry.

The cloudy weather and the slight rainfall added to the apprehension of the SPF Ministers and MLAs.

The Chief Minister and the accompanying Ministers who left Imphal at 10.13 am in two helicopters were supposed to inaugurate the Vangai TD Block at Patphuimun in Tipaimukh sub-division after arriving there at around 10:45 am.

Fear and confusion besieged the entire administrative functionaries when the MPR (Manipur Police Radio) located at Patphuimun informed Imphal that the Chief Minister's entourage had not arrived there till 12.40 pm.

The Chief Minister's colleagues were panicstricken and visibly alarmed when they heard that O Ibobi and his entourage have not reached the destination even after two hours of the scheduled time.

Top police officials were instructed to make all possible efforts to cull whatever information was available about the Chief Minister's whereabouts.

In fact, the CM was supposed to leave Kangla at 9.40 am for Patphuimun to inaugurate Vangai TD block at 10 am.

The police officials and SPF Ministers and MLAs heaved a sigh of relief when the MPR at Patphuimun informed of Ibobi's arrival at 12:43 pm.

The CM and his entourage were compelled to land at the second destination at Pherzawl because of the inclement weather condition.

There, O Ibobi inaugurated an ADC office.

From there, the CM flew to Patphuimun, his designated first destination where he inaugurated the Vangai TD block.

At his final destination at Henglep, the CM attended a Kut celebration as chief guest.

Later the entourage arrived at Imphal at 3:36 pm.
