Employees of Food Corporation of India (FCI), Imphal Office have decided to challenge the order of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Imphal remanding four of their colleagues to judicial custody before the District and Sessions Court.
Members of the newly floated Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the FCI Imphal Staff Welfare Association informed that they are prepared to move the Court against the verdict of the CJM and file an appeal before the District and Session Courts, probably by tomorrow.
Out of the eight FCI officials arrested on alleged charge of deducting rice for militants from the quota meant for Mid-Day Meal Scheme on February 5, four were released on bail by the CJM yesterday while remanding the remaining four to judicial custody till February 28.Meanwhile, Bharatiya Khadya Nigam Karamchari Sangh (BKNKS) has lined up a series of programmes to be taken up to intensify the ongoing agitation for unconditional release of the arrested FCI officials.
BKNKS Zonal Committee with the help of Regional Committee, Assam and Zonal Office (NE) reportedly demonstrated in front of the Zonal Office, Guwahati today demanding release of the remaining four FCI officials.
Similar demonstration would also be held in front of all Regional Offices tomorrow and in front of all district offices on February 17, according to a BKNKS statement.
A token hunger strike in front of all the district offices of FCI has also been planned on February 18 to be followed by extensive postering in all the offices and depots premises on February 19.
