Imphal, June 14: Reconfirming the commitment of the people to preserve the unity and integrity of Manipur, Protest Day was observed by various local clubs under the aegis All Manipur United Clubs' Organization (AMUCO) at different parts of the State today.

AMUCO has been observing Protest Day on June 14 every year since 2001 to protest against the Indian Government's move to extend ceasefire agreement signed with the Nasa rebel group NSCN (I-M) to Manipur.

Talks, discussions and seminar emphasizing on the need to maintain peace and unity among the different groups of people living in the State since time immemorial mark the observance.

The banners with the slogan 'Lets us stand against divide and rule; strengthen the clubs of Manipur, build a strong community life and Resist Imperialism' were also prominent displayed at different venues at the occasion.
