Four persons including two sub contractors of the Northern Agency who had gone to Dimapur to lift rice and sugar from the Food Corporation of India godown and other items are yet to be traced after they were picked up by suspected security personnel from Chumukedima on January 19.To protest the arrest and to demand information of their whereabouts, transporters have decided to stop lifting goods from the FCI godown from tomorrow.
Talking to some reporters at Khurai Chingangbam Leikai, an official of Northern Agency said that the four persons who have been picked up are Haobam Nabakumar (43) of Sawombung Thongkhong, a contractor of the Manipur Police Housing Corporation, two sub-contractors of the Northern Agency named as Takhelmayum Jibankumar (27) and Takhellambam Naoba (40) and another man Oinam Sanayaima (37).On January 18 Nabakumar left for Dimapur in his Maruti Alto car (MN06/1396) to procure cement and iron bars while Jibankumar and Naoba left for Dimapur on January 19 on a Scorpio (MNIK 4056). Sanayaima was already at Dimapur.
The four met at Third Mile on January 19 and had food together.
Even as the four were having their food, security personnel in their uniform came to the hotel in one bullet proof vehicle, one Jonga and two 407 Mini Tata and took away the four persons.
Nothing was heard of the four picked up persons on the day and the following day a Forerunner of Northern Agency, Alex Ziliang filed a case with the Dimapur police at Char Mile.
Since that day, the Dimapur SDPO has been summoning the Forerunner but nothing was said about the fate and whereabouts of the four persons, said the official.
The Northern Agency official questioned under what charges the two sub contractors of Northern Agency have been picked up and added that the Government should take up necessary steps to trace the four missing persons.
He also appealed to the people, NGOs and meira paibis to demand the release of the four persons.
Lainingthou Yangoi Ningthou Meira Paibi Nupi Lup, Khurai Thingom Leirak Meira Paibi Lup and Apunba Yaipha Thourang Lup have also appealed for the safe release of the four persons.
Thanga AC MLA S Ibohal said that efforts have been taken up to trace the four persons and appealed to the concerned to hand over the four to Manipur.
