Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has expressed dissatisfaction over the repairing works being taken up at Hotel Imphal near North AOC which is under the State Tourism Department and condition of the JN Hospital at Porom-pat where he came across many sick persons lying on the corridor/veranda due to want of adequate beds in the hospital during an inspection tour today.
The Chief Minister made the visit to inspect prevailing condition in person at Hotel Imphal, Nursing Hostel cum Academic Block of RIMS Hospital, Institute of Co-operative Management and Research and JN Hospital this morning.
Seeing the repairing works at Hotel Imphal with tale tell signs of being hurriedly done, a visibly upset Chief Minister gave strong instructions to the officials of TP Cell (RCS) entrusted with the task.
Estimated to cost around Rs 30 lakhs, the repairing works were taken up since September this year.
From Hotel Imphal, the Chief Minister accompanied by Health Minister L Nandakumar went straight to the single-storeyed Nursing Hostel cum Academic Block being constructed near the Medical Directorate complex.
When completed, the Block would be able to accommodate 100 nurses/trainees.
The total cost of the project is around Rs 4.87 crores and is being targeted for completion by February next year.
The Chief Minister also inspected existing condition of the Ultrasound, MRI Centre and CT Scan at RIMS as well as repairing works being taken up there.
The next stop of the Chief Minister and his entourage was the Institute of Co-operative Management and Research at Lamphel-pat.
The Chief Minister was impressed to see proper maintenance of the complex which is housing the academic block, Type-II, III, VI and V quarters, hostel blocks, water reservoir, overhead tanks, generator room, etc.
The meticulous care taken in compound fencing, lighting, drainage, roads, culverts, etc were also to the liking of the august visitor.
The complex is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 6.8 crores and the ongoing works are expected to be completed by March next year.
The happiness of the Chief Minister, however, was short-lived when he arrived at JN Hospital at Porompat with dirt and filth greeting him at Female ward and other areas and ailing patients lying on the floor of the gloomy corridors /veranda.
The Chief Minister instructed the officials concerned for early completion of the electric wiring system.
He also gave strong instructions to the responsible persons to ensure construction of the new OPD block, Accident and Trauma Centre (ATC) and 100-bedded AIDS Hospital are completed within the set target of March next year.
Occupying an area of 248X46 ft, the newly constructed OPD block would have 25 rooms.
The proposal is for a three-storeyed building and it is estimated around 2.6 crores cost in completion of one storeyed.
The ground floor of the building is being targeted within February next year.
