The general conference of Manipur people's Party (MPP) will be held on December 11 during which party president for the new term would also be elected, said MPP's State Returning Officer M Binodkumar today.
Binodkumar, appointed to the post yesterday, also informed that an assistant SRO would be nominated 15 days before the conference in order to sort out technicalities and ensure smooth conduct of the MPP organisation election.
Elaborating MPP constitution stipulating nomination of the SRO one month ahead of party president and organisation poll Binodkumar informed of conveying the nomination by the party's Central Committee to the election Commission of India.
Explaining on the MPP franchise for election of the party president, he said a total of 238 votes representing various units of the party including the legislature leaders would be eligible and added that working committee members would consists of 10 members, 9 election committee members and five disciplinary committee members would also be elected.
Criteria for contesting the president's post is five year party membership at the least, Binodkumar said and informed that vice presidents for hill and valley areas would also be elected at the election.
