Imphal, May 28:
Four persons, including two security personnel, an unmarried woman in her mid thirties and a twenty four year old man were killed in unrelated incidents during the past 48 hours.
The two security-men killed due to electrocution belonged to the 36 Assam Rifles and 63 Engineering Regiment (ER) and were attached to the Tengnoupal post of 37 AR.
While the deceased AR personnel identified as Manichandra of Hojai (Assam) was an Operator Havildar identity of ER personnel has been established as Rajkumar Joshi (Lance Naik) from Dehradun.
They were killed when a high tension wire snapped and fell over them while they were on ROP duty at Saivom village under Tengnoupal police station yesterday morning at around 8.30.The snapped power line not only burnt the two instantly but they also fired some shots due to the impact of the electric shock.
While Tengnoupal police station has registered a case on the incident both the bodies have been taken to their respective homes after post mortem at Lilong PHC.
In the other incident, a 34 year old woman identified as Yumnam Leibaklotpi alias Sunita of Yumnam Khunou Mayai Leikai reportedly committed suicide by hanging from a tree at Thumkhong Chingjin near Sambei Lairembi about 10 km from Heingang police station.
Family sources revealed that Sunita was a mentally deranged person and had attempted suicide on May 26 morning also.While family members managed to prevent her from taking the extreme step in her first attempt and kept a close vigil on her she stealthily slipped out from house on may 27 night at around 11 only to be found death today morning.
The body has been handed over to family members afternoon completion of medical formalities at RIMS morgue today.
Heingang police station has registered a case on the matter.
In the third incident 24 year old Khumukcham Romesh s/o Jugeshore of Kakching Khunou Cheksapat who was staying at Palace Compound succumbed to injuries at RIMS Hospital following an accident at about 6.30 am today near the old gate of the same hospital.
He passed away at around 12.30 pm.
Romesh riding a bicycle was reportedly on his way for a tuition class when a Tata truck rammed at him.
Lamphel police has taken up a case on the accident and body handed over to family members after post mortem.
Meanwhile, body of Jyotirmoy Deb Barma of Tripura who was killed by unidentified gunmen at RIMS Gents Hostel on May 26 has been flown back to his Khowai Town home with his elder brother accompanying the body.
handed over to IMC: As none one came forward to identify or claim the body found at near kangla Moat on May 24 the body has been handed over Imphal Municipal Council today for disposal.
