Imphal, May 15: The 5 day Science Meet 2002 organized by Manipur Science and Technology Council in coordination with Science Teachers Forum, Manipur (STFM), Manipur Association for Science and Society (MASS), Manipur Association for the Promotion of Science (MAPS) and Manipur Science Communicator's Association (MASCA) concluded today at Manipur Kangshang, Khuman Lampak.

The programme was catalyzed and supported by National Council of Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), DST, government of India.

In the painting competition of the sub-junior category RK Anura Jha bagged first position while Pebam Babita Devi second, both students of Maria Montessori School.

The third prize was awarded to Kh Buster Meitei of Regular English School.

In the junior category, S Talent Meitei was awarded first prize, W Nadia second, both students of Maria Montessori School while Ksh Johnson of Shantilata Memorial School was awarded the third prize.

The second and third prizes were sponsored by M/S Amar Offset, Uripok and T Ibobi Singh of Kwakeithel Laimakhujam Leikai respectively.

In the senior painting competition, Linkojoy Oinam of Maria Montessori School was awarded first prize, while H Bidyasanti Chanu of MBC Hr Sec School, second and N Deeparani Devi of Maria Montessori third.

In the declamation contest RK Ranadeva of Sainik School took first prize while M Kiran Singh of Royal Academy of Science and L Chanu Bilu of La Chatelaime Residential Junior College, Chennai were given second and third prizes respectively.

These prizes were sponsored by Ch Babu Singh of Khurai Thongam Leikai in the name of Saktombi Memorial Trust on Science & Technology.

DMC Sc students Kenish Ningthoujam and Phurailatpam Surchandra Sharma won first prize of the science quiz while A Deepkumar and N Padamashwar of Harvard School second and Kenedy Nongthoujam and RK Uttam Singh of DMC Sc third.

All prizes were sponsored by the web portal www.e-pao.net.

In a science model competition, Heeteswar Th and K Tony of Maria Montessori School got the first prize for their model of Improved Chullah.

Pretty Mayengbam and Ronarichee L of Shantilata Memorial School won second prize for their model crutch-cum-wheclchair/table and K Sanjitkumar of Ananda Hr Sec School was in third position for his model Know Plastics for Yes Plastics.

M/s Singh Medical Hall, BT Road and M/s Sharma Bros Scientific Instruments & Co, Paona Bazar sponsored the second the third prize respectively.

For the item Yumleima Rice Mill, I Birchandra Meitei of M/s Kumpuba Machines, Takyelpat was given first prize in the technopreneurship competition and Th Ratan Singh, Sagolband Thangjam Leikai and M Manihar Sharma, Nongmeibung were given the second and third prizes on the item UNITEC Plastics and Automatic Pump Operator respectively.
