A host of political heavy weights including former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam have formally joined the National Congress Party (NCP).
This was announced at a press conference at the party's national office at New Delhi by party leaders, Tariq Anwar (National General Secretary) and spokesman DP Tripathi, this evenng around 3.30, Koijam informed The Sangai Express over phone from Delhi.
Besides him, the other new entrants include ex-ministers M Kunjo of Hiyanglam A/c, Morung Makunga (Tengnoupal), ex-MLA Kishore Thapa (Kangpokpi), K Jadumani of Nambol and N Binoy of Thangmeiband, Koijam said.
After getting the arrpoval from NCP's national president Sharad Pawar �We have joined the party�, he said while expressing optimism that more political heavy weights will follow suit very soon.
With the NCP having a strong force, the party would extend its utmost effort to gain power in the forthcoming Assembly election.
�Our target is to get absolute majority and if not then the single largest party to capture power to bring about good governance,� Koijam added.
