BOUNDEN DUTY conflicted humanity with the Deputy Speaker Manipur Legislative Assembly today scolded a traffic police who was performing his duty of eviction of roadside vendor feeling pity to a woman vendor who suffered the eviction.
The incident occurred this morning at around 5.30 am at Gandhi Ghat, Uripok.
The traffic police has lodged a written complain to the superintendent of traffic regarding the incident which occurred this early morning at around 5.30 am, the source said.
Reports said that the incident occurred in the early morning today when Deputy Speaker, Th Shyamkumar who was on morning walk on the street in Imphal intercepted the traffic police scattering the wares of the woman vendor.
On seeing the traffic police scattering the wares of the woman, the Deputy Speaker intervened and asked the traffic police, the reason behind his deed against the pity woman vendor.
He also reportedly scolded the traffic police stating that at least for the day, vendors should allow selling their wares even though there is restriction on occupying the roadside spaces in the market places in the city.
Later today, the traffic police in question informed the matter to the deputy superintendent of traffic who advised him to submit a written report to the superintendent of police.
According, the traffic police submitted a written report to the superintendent of traffic, sources said.
It can be recalled that police with a government order under strict vigilant vendors selling their wares by occupying the roadside spaces in Imphal city.
Despite the police drive, with a plea to allow them to sell their wares considering the coming Ningol Chakouba festival started occupying and selling their wares since the last few days.
Today, also several vendors sale their wares on the roadside without much objection from the authorities.
