The first NK Sanajaoba Investigative Journalist Award 2008 has been awarded to Sapam Aruna, a staff reporter of Naharolgi Thoudang daily at the observation function of the 8th Lamyanba Yaolloi NK Sanajaoba commemoration day held today at Kangla hall.
The award distribution come commemoration function was graced by prof Gangumei Kamei and presided by former director of state arts and culture, Aheibam Birendra.
The award which included a memento, a citation, a shawl along with a cash amount of Rs.21,000 was handed over to Sapam Aruna Devi in the function organized by the NK Sanajaoba Observation Committee.
Extremely happy with the conferment of the award, Aruna Devi said that she had tried her best level in filing the reports on suffering of the women who were victims of security atrocities in the state.
She investigated into the hidden stories of the women who had and have been victims of rapes and molestation by the security personnel.
After writing reports of the rape victims of the rapes in the valley area, Aruna said she again filed reports of the rape victims in the hills areas.
She also expressed gratitude to the NK Sanajaoba Memorial Trust for selecting her for the award by knowing her efforts in filing the reports into the fields.
Paying of floral tribute to the portrait of the late NK Sanajaoba and released of a book written on the account of late pioneer of the revolutionaries in the state and delivering speech by the dignitaries on the account of the life of Sanajaoba were the main future of today's commemoration function.
Chief guest of the function prof.Gangumei Kamei while releasing the book entitled "Jiribam Jail da NK Sanajaoba said to give the title of pioneer of revolutionaries to Sanajaoba is a worthy while thoroughly discussed on his life.
He was man who did not take part physically to bring revolution but by way of writing on the account of the revolutionaries and their spirits, Gangumei said.
Not only this, during his life time, Sanajaoba also efforted to bring integrity among the people living in the valley and hills in the state, he added.
The function was among other attended by former AMWJU president K Madumangol, AK Sanaton and current president S Hemanta.
They also talked on the life of the Sanajaoba.
