Naorem Birahari College Khundrakpam celebrated silver jubilee today.
The college was established 25 years back by volunteers of local clubs and other associations based in the surrounding area of Khundrakpam.
Today, around 1000 students are studying in the college.
Naorem Birahari College is one among the private colleges which achieved highest pass percentage.
The college has secured remarkable positions in BA/BSc exams conducted by Manipur University.
Addressing the silver jubilee function as chief guest, Speaker Dr S Budhichandra remarked that the college deserved to be converted into a full-fledged Government college considering the strength of students.
Youth and Affairs Sports Minister N Biren lauded those men who worked hard to establish the college.
He said that the ground being used by the college and the local club would be fenced soon if Rs one lakh would suffice.
The function was presided by Khundrakpam A/C MLA Th Lokeshore and chairman of the college's governing body.
Lauding teachers of the college who have succeeded in producing even gold medallist students, the MLA exuded that the suffering of the teachers would be over after sometime.
A statue of N Birhari, donor of the college was also unveiled on the occasion during which the Th Sanathoi Memorial Award, Keirungbam Mangoljao Meritorious Award and Khundrakpam Gram Panchayat Pradhan Meritorious Award were distributed.
Founders of the college were also felicitated with gifts.
