Former state minister, Dr Moirangthem Nara today, speaking on the observance function of the 35th foundation day of the Manohor Sabha, called for concerted effort in the conservation of indigenous art forms of the state which is on the verge of extinction.
The foundation day of the Manohor Sabha was held at the Mantop of Gurumayum Bagendra, Uripok Tourangbam Leikai, Imphal today with former state minister, Dr N Nara as chief guest.
Director of arts and culture Dr K Sobita presided over the function.
National awardee Aribam Chiteshwor, noted musicologist Laishram Birendrakumar, assistant secretary of Manipur state Kala Akademy Gurumayum Bideshwor, president of the Manipur Manohor Sabha, Khaidem Nabakumar also attended the function as guest of honours.
Speaking as chef guest of the function, Dr M Nara stressed the need of taking up steps for conservation of vanishing indigenous art forms of the people of state.
Holding workshops and discussions for the preservation of various art forms is also must, he added.
As human, we cannot live without culture.
Culture will be change with due course of time.
But, the change in the culture should attract people.
We must preserve out culture, Nara said.
Other speaker on the occasion talked on the need of imitation in the art forms and the need for knowing thoroughly the meaning of the arts by the artistes.
The occasion was marked by offering of floral tributes to the monohor sai artistes who are no more in this world.
