Imphal, June 29 2009: Felicitation and honouring of distinguish students and sportspersons at various levels by social organizations were held at various places today.

Students of Thangmeiband Assembly constituency who passed in the first division in this year HSLC and HSSLC conducted by state and central boards and victory sportspersons at the national level were felicitated today at a function organized by the Thangmeiband Kendra Development Committee.

In another function held at Lamshang, students who passed in the HSLC and HSSLC exams under the state board and councils were also felicitated.

It was organized by Progressive Youth Association, Lamshang.

The function organized by Thangmeiband Kendra Development Committee held at the Lalambung Makhong Community hall cum mini stadium, MLA Radhabinod Koijam attended as chief guest.

It was presided by president of the organizing committee Ch Dinachandra and MLA, Doukhomang Kjongsai, Yumnam Thoinu, awardee of Manipur State Kala Akademy and president of the Lalambung Development Committee Mutum Rajendro attended as guest of honours.

Delivering his speech as chief guest, Radhabinod Koijam said the felicitation and presentation of gifts for their success should be considered as encouragements and for working hard in the forthcoming exams ahead of them by the students.

Hard working by the youths is paving the road to success in future life, he added.

Expressing concern over the present situation of the state, the MLA said, there is no education atmosphere in the state.

Politics has rooted through the schools, colleges and university.

By this, students are leading to the wrong direction.

State economy has been hurting due to students going outside the state for study which directly related with the draining out of huge amount of money from the state but students, parents and guardians must know that there is nothing harm in studying in the good institutes of the state.

MLA Doukhomang speaking as guest of honour said the unity of the state where various communities residing together cannot be disintegrated by any force.

Any effort to disintegrate the unity of the state should be faced by a common effort of all communities.

He also observed that by holding such function which honours the students and sportsperson will encourage the students and sportspersons a lot.

He also appealed the students to use time is a proper manner.

During the function, a total of 114 passed in first division including 55 students in HSLC and 59 in HSSLC exam this year and 13 sportspersons were felicitated with gifts.

In another function held at Lamshang organized by the Progressive Youth Association, Lamshang, students hailing from Lamshang Assembly constituency who passed in first and second divisions were felicitated.

A total of 21 students were honoured in the function.

The Heingang Kontha Makha Leikai Model Club, Heingang also organized the 5th Prize Distribution Ceremony for all the first class students of Heingang in the Class X and XII examinations 2008-09 conducted by BSEM, Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur and CBSE today at Heingang Kangjeibung Community Hall.

A statement issued by the General Secretary of the Club S Tondang Meetei stated that Adhaksha Imphal East Zila Parishad, P Bimola and President of the Model Club, Hirom Ito graced the function as Chief Guest and President respectively while Pradhan of Heingang GP, L Manihar and Principal of Tiny Tots Unique School, Daneil Burne took part as Guests of Honour.
