The United Committee Manipur (UCM) offered water containers, footballs, volleyballs and sugar to the villagers of Utonglok Koireng of Senapati and Saromphai villafe of Churachandpur as Christmas gifts apart from celebrating the festival together.
In the Christmas celebration functions held at the Utonglok Baptist Church, UCM President, Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, finance secretary, BM Yaima, IPR secretary Kh Nilamani Kha-ngangba, assistant finance secretary I Shyamo, research, analysis and documental secretary, L Bina Chanu, member Y Kadambini, K Achouba and M Mema attended.
President, Dilipkumar speaking on the occasion expressed concerned over the present chaos facing by the people of the state like the spate of killing.
With the celebration such festival, such chaotic situation can be throw away from the state, he added.
Even though Meetei is the largest community, they never tried to eliminate smaller communities or tribes.
UCM also encourage in preserving and developed own culture and tradition by smaller groups.
The celebration function held at Saromphai in Churachandpur UCM vice president Nabachandra and other members of the body attended.
Yesterday also UCM took part in the Christmas celebration at Chiru and Leikot Pheijol villages of Senapati district.
