MLA of Phungyar Assembly constituency, Wungnaoshang Keishing on Thursday alleged that funds for NREGS workers of the constituency have been diverted to meet the expenditure of the golden jubilee of the Phungyar block to be held on February 27 by the government authority.
In an interaction with media persons at his official quarter, the MLA alleged that for to meet the expenditure of the celebration of the golden jubilee function, Rs three lakh from two heads of the NREGS had been released.
A report of the diversion of funds will be brought up to the house of the state assembly scheduled to commence from March 8 and pressed the house to investigate into the matter by public account committee of the house, he informed.
He also expressed doubt of having a hidden agenda behind the holding the golden jubilee of Phungyar block and asked how the state chief minister and chief secretary had given for holding the celebration when any of the around 40 sub-division of Manipur hold the golden jubilee but Phungyar block is going to hold the function.
Even the Ukhrul district headquarters which has completed 100 year of existence did not hold centenary celebration and asked what kind of politic is the Chief Minister is doing, he added.
