Imphal, January 28 2010:
The Manipur University Tribal Students' Union (MUTSU) has urged upon the State Government to expedite the process of land acquisition and other necessary works so that the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Manipur Regional campus can commence its session from 2009-10 .
In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, MUTSU decried that the State Government has failed to complete the land acquisition process even five months after the land was donated by Makhan village.
It recalled that the IGNTU Manipur Regional Campus was inaugurated by Chief Minister O Ibobi on September 9 last year.
The negligence on the part of the State Government has turned out to be a big stumbling block to the development and academic initiation of the university although it has a concrete blueprint to introduce more new MA and MSc courses in different departments from the academic session of 2010-11, noted the memorandum.
