Inquiry into the Malom Massacre of November 2000 which killed 10 civilians in indiscriminating firing by Assam Rifles, conducted by the District and Session Judge Manipur East following a directive of the Gauhati High Court, completed today.
The District and Session Judge, Manipur East conducted the inquiry into the facts and circumstances of the incident to fix the responsibility of the incident following a directive of the Gauhati High Court, Imphal.
The finding report of the case will be submitted to the court at the earliest, an official source said.
During the course of investigation, the source said, taken statement of 23 witnesses and arguments of both respondents and defendants during hearings as part of investigation was conducted in the court of the District and Session Judge, Th Surbala as well as statements of medico legal experts of RIMS including director, Dr Fimate who conducted postmortems to the dead bodies of the victims were also taken.
An order regarding the conclusion of the enquiry was issued today by the District and Session Judge, Manipur East issued today for further proceeding in the court on the finding of the inquiry.
