Imphal, August 14 2010:
Banning of taxis plying between Imphal and Mao has been temporarily suspended since yesterday by the Naga People's Organization (NPO), Senapati.
NPO president M Dili informed NNN tonight that as a responsible apex civil society body of the Senapati district while knowing the tremendous inconveniences and difficulties faced by the general public in travelling from Imphal to Mao, it has decided to temporarily suspend the ongoing ban imposed on all 'commercial taxis' plying on NH39 between Imphal and Mao with immediate effect from 6 am of August 13.M Dili said that the NPO had imposed the ban on taxis plying between Imphal and Mao as a mark of condemnation and also seeking clarification from those elements who had committed the vandalism of the taxis on July 26 at North AOC in Imphal.
M Dili said that inspite of the fact that those responsible of the crime have not come out and identify themselves, the NPO while considering the plights of the people has lifted the ban of taxis plying between Imphal and Mao.
The NPO however said that it will reimpose its ban if the matter is not resolved at the earliest.
