Amidst the hectic preparations by the organising committee for the 7th State Level Orange Festival 2010 at Tamenglong the Zeliangrong Baudi Tamenglong zone and State Unit today endorsed the United Nagas' Council decision to boycott the Chief Minister and his cabinet ministers.
After Naga People Convention resolved to sever all ties with the state government and with the tripartite talks under way the Zeliangrong Baudi today announced to support the UNC decision.
Thomas Kamei, Chairman Zeliangrong Baudi Manipur informed this reporter today afternoon.
In this regard a joint meeting was held at the residence of Damchuilung Kamei, former Chairman ZB and it resolved to support the UNC decision to boycott the Chief Minister during the state level orange festival he said.
'We are not against the State Level Orange Festival but the chief minister or state cabinet ministers will not be welcome as guests', Thomas Kamei said.
Meanwhile the district administration Tamenglong extends its wishes and invites all to the upcoming State Level orange Festival 2010 , December 10- 12.Appealing to all public of Tamenglong, organisations, NGOs, students bodies and well wishers to come and participate in the orange festival to fulfill some of the goals and objectives envisaged for the State Level Orange festival.
This was stated by Joseph Pauline, the Coordinator of the 7th State Level Orange Festival 2010 .
The coordinator said that the orange festival was organised to boost orange production on a large scale, boost plantation of income generating indigenous orange plants.
It also aims to promote tourism, cultural activities, handicrafts and other co-curricular activities and it is not aimed against any political movement or any section of the society but it is a secular annual function upholding the interest and development of the diverse yet acquiescent communities of Manipur, stated Joseph Pauline.
While appealing to one and all to extend full cooperation in order to achieve success and the smooth conduct of this festival, the district administration urged to avail of such aims and objectives for the benefit and welfare of the people of Tamenglong.
Meanwhile the Zeliangrong Students' Union appealed to all people of Manipur, especially people from the villages of Tamenglong district to come and participate in the 7th State Level Orange Festival 2010 at Tamenglong District which will be held on 11 & 12 December 2010 .
The ZSU also appealed to all sections of Manipur not to call any bandh or strikes during the orange festival in the larger interest of the people of Tamenglong.
