Imphal, October 22 2010: Showing solidarity to the demand of the family of RK Meghen to inform his whereabouts, political parties and civil societies continued pressing to the Centre.

United People's Front (UPF) while pressing Centre to clarify on the controversy surrounding the arrest of Meghen and his whereabouts at the earliest said that Centre remains silence on the matter will not yield a good result.

"We have nothing to object on detaining them and conduct trial against him but we would no remain silent if Centre is not sincere enough in informing exact whereabouts of UNLF chairman," UPF president said in a press conference held today in Imphal.

Government should not conceal him.

They can conduct trial against him under existing law of the land.

If GoI try to eliminate him, it will tantamount to creation of unrest situation in the state, he warned.

The Trinamool Congress, Manipur Pradesh Unit, has said that there is nothing when Centre conducted trial against him under international law by both government of India and Bangladesh.

He should be treated as political prisoner if the BCC reports of his arrest in Bangladesh and subsequent handover to the India is true.

Mention may be made that politicians, social workers and civil societies in Manipur have been demanding Government of India (GoI) to inform whereabouts of the UNLF chief RK Meghen alias Sanayaima while warning the later that GoI mum on the matter will tantamount to create an unrest situation in the trouble torn state of Manipur.

Former Chief Minister and NCP state unit chief, Radhabinod Koijam said that it is the responsibility of the GoI to confirm whereabouts of Sanayaima to the people of Manipur, at least to his family.

"Even though he is a leader of separatist warring against India, after all he is a citizen of India and on humanitarian ground, his (Meghen's) whereabouts should be known to his family and to the people of the state," he said.

GoI should not remain silent in this regard as the matter may create an unrest situation in the state.

Even if he is not handed over to India, at least GoI should press Bangladesh government and confirmed his whereabouts, he demanded.

The Senior Citizen for Society, Manipur had also demanded that both GoI and Bangladesh government should clarify the media reports on the arrest of Meghen in Bangladesh and subsequent handing over of him to India.

Mention may be made that with slide changes in his earlier statement on the position of Meghen, Union Home Secretary, GK Pillai had said that it seems that the media report of arrest of UNLF chairman RK Meghen was arrested by the Bangladesh police.

But he refuted the report of handing over to India.

He also assured of insisting New Delhi had already started initiation to Bangladesh government to confirm his (Meghen) arrest.
