Assam Rifles' National Integration Tour reaches Kolkata

Continuing its transformative journey under Operation Sadbhavana, the National Integration Tour (NIT) organised by Assam Rifles reached the vibrant city of Kolkata after a two-day travel from Shillong.
The 31-member delegation, comprising 26 Civil Society Organisation (CSO) representatives from Tengnoupal district and five Assam Rifles personnel, was warmly received in the city known for its historical depth and cultural richness.
As per a release issued by the IGAR (South), the visit to Kolkata marked a significant chapter in the 15-day tour, which was flagged off from Pallel Garrison on September 10 .
The delegation explored iconic landmarks such as the Shaheed Minar, Cathedral Church, and the bustling New Market, each offering a window into the city's layered heritage.
A highlight of the day was the Kolkata River Heritage Cruise along the Hooghly, which provided participants with a panoramic view of the city's colonial architecture and riverine legacy.
These immersive experiences were designed to deepen the participants' understanding of India's pluralistic identity and foster a sense of shared belonging.
The tour, which earlier included meaningful engagements in Shillong� such as interactions with the Director General Assam Rifles and the Governor of Meghalaya�continues to reflect Assam Rifles' commitment to building bridges between communities and nurturing civic awareness.
