Imphal, December 07 2011:
The general public of Jiribam expressed its dissatisfaction at the manner in which the development programmes are being taken up under the SPF government in Jiribam.
The pace at which these development programmes have been implemented has been extremely disappointing for the public.
The situation came to light when a team of media persons along with the Jiribam District Demand Committee went around to get a first hand knowledge of the various development programmes taken up by the state government.
The team witnessed the construction of the Jiribam ADC complex which began in 2007 and the building construction at Jiribam Chingdong Leikai which is likely to be inaugurated in this month.
The construction work of the ADC complex has come to a halt for quite a long time.
It was only when the state government advised the authority to inaugurate the complex by completing the front portion that the construction work started in full swing said the workers at the site.
Meanwhile, the Jiribam District Demand Committee also pointed out on the apprehension of not maintaining quality, if the work is carried out hastily.
The media team also paid a visit to the once started and left out, construction of an auditorium at Jiribam College at Kadamtala.
The work was started in 2007 and came to a halt since then.
However the ITI building constructed at Kadamtala and the Sports complex build at Bidyanagar were completed, though signs of hastily made construction was quite visible.
The Jiribam Water Supply Scheme constructed under JNNURM has also taken quite a long time, exclaimed the members of the Jiribam District Demand Committee.
The team also inspected the progress of the construction work of the 50 bedded District hospital and the Power Sub- station which was completed 20 years back.
The power station was newly constructed.
The construction work is 90% completed, said a site engineer.
The Jiribam District Demand Committee informed media persons that almost all the construction works which was left out for quite a long time and is being executed hastily at present in Jiribam, will certainly lack quality.
It seems that the government is just trying to show off as elections are coming close.
This happens in Jiribam because the local MLA never cares for the welfare and interest of the people.
