Imphal, February 01 2010: Four day Bharat Nirman Campaign began today at Heingang Panthoibi Lampak Imphal East.

The inaugural function was graced by Youth Affairs Sports and IFCD Minister N.Biren as chief guest.

.LManihar Pradhan Heingang Gram Panchayat and Smt.

.WBormani Devi, Social Welfare and President Woman Welfare Assn, Manipur were the President and the Guest of Honour respectively of the inaugural function.

Giving the welcome and keynote address L Premlata Media and Communication officer PIB Imphal said, Bharat Nirman is a big campaign, which aims at making people both in urban and rural areas aware of the various people oriented programmes launched by the UPA Government at the centre.

The chief guest of the function N Biren said the campaign envisages giving rights to the people.

He regretted that too many unknown elements have disturbed distribution of benefits to the people of the state.

He said RTI act is framed to root out corruption from the country.

This act shows UPA Government pays attention to carrying out its function and duties in a transparent manner.

He said a paradigm shift has been seen in taking up developmental programmes by the Government.

There is no difference between rural and urban areas these days.

India has attained super power status.

Communication is better.

All these developmental programmes could not have been taken up had we not chosen the right leader to lead the nation.

America knows how to choose the right leader to lead their nation.

Indians too have known that.

We must follow the leader regardless of the fact that one gets ministerial berth or not.

Manipur too has got the right leader.

A stable Government can do a lot.

This has been shown by the SPF Government in Manipur.

Many developmental programmes have been taken up.

All roads are better.

The Minister said Manipuris, however, are yet to know the importance of water in sustaining life.

Hills are denuded.

Water is scarce.

We spoil the scantily available river water by recklessly throwing used plastic bags and bottle into the river.

We must have a vision, a vision to store water.

The water that has been stored can be used in generation of electricity.

He appealed to the people to attend to the leakages into water pipe.

He also appealed to the masses to inculcate the habit of paying taxes.

W Bormani said India lagged behind in many spheres at the time of gaining national Independence from British power.

Proper planning by the successive Governments at the centre has put India at the super power status.

Major portion of India belongs to rural areas.

Minus developmental programmes for the rural areas India cannot achieve its desired goal of reaching the most developed nation in the world.

She said all these anganwadi and rural housing policy are for development of rural areas.

She appealed to the womenfolk to play a major role in the development of the nation.

It is time social inhibitions are shattered and women come from the indoors and work for development of the nation.

Anganwadi and ASHA are the programmes launched for women only.

She lauded the organizer for bringing Bharat Nirman Campaign at her areas.

L Manihar said the locals readily accepted the proposal made by PIB for conducting Bharat Nirman Campaign as it will go a long way in making the innocent common people aware of the developmental programmes launched by the UPA Government at the centre.

S Bimolchandra Programme co-ordinator, Song and Drama Division proposed a vote of thanks.

The artistes of the SDD presented the opening and closing songs.

The artistes of the SDD also presented a drama based on AIDS, which was witnessed by the local people of the area.

Earlier chief guest of the function Mr.N.Biren Singh inaugrated the exhibition stalls.

Altogether 22 stalls were put up in the exhibition.

Exhibition stall of DAVP, which was biggest stall amongst all, was visited by maximum visitors.
