Imphal, October 30 2008: LIKE THE previous years this year also the Chandel district level Kut festival will be celebrated at Sugunu with state Works Minister K Ranjit as chief guest on November 1 next.

The district level Kut festival committee has been celebrating the festival in the district since 1996 without any break.

Speaking at a press conference held at the venue of the festival today, chairman of the district level organizing committee, Ngamkholal Guite said apart gracing the function by works minister, MLA E Dwijamani will preside the function in which MLAs Bijoy Koijam, M Hemanta, Th Lokeshwor and Dr U Deben also will attend as guest honours.

The main attraction of the festival will be by beauty contest in which the first three position holders will be given cash award of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively, he said adding that altogether 22 communities of Kuki-Chin-Mizo groups will attend.

On the eve of the festival, tomorrow, a gospel meeting will also held, Ngamkholal said.
