RJD prodigal MLAs back in party fold

Imphal, December 15 2010: state unit Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA ngursanglur, whose primary membership from the political organisation was terminated on ground of indiscipline has been accepted back into the party with similar reprieve for another party legislator Thangkholun Haokip, who pledged to work for the political organisation in reply to a show cause notice as to why he should not be expelled.

However, fate of the RJD's third MLA Hellauddin Khan remains uncertain as punitive action is likely to be initiated for alleged violation of party norms.

One of only three MLAs elected to the state Assembly, Ngursanglur, who represents Tipaimukh AC, was expelled from the RJD's primary membership on November 15 this year with charges of violating party rules and regulations.

The RJD expulsion order was revoked with a circular issued on December 7, said a source who added disciplinary proceedings initiated against Thangkholun Haokip has also been withdrawn after he accepted charges of indiscipline levelled against him and pledged to work in the interest of the RJD.

Thangkholun is informed to have given the assurance in writing.

As no such positive response was received from RJD Legislature Wing leader Hellauddin Khan inspite of the deadline expiring today, party's high command has begun necessary procedures to initiate punitive action against the MLA.

The source also informed that a party meeting convened today at the Sanjenthong Mission Lane residence of RJD president Yamkhongam Haokip has resolved to rebuilt the political organisation from the grassroots level.

In his address, State vice president Prof K Kumarjit, who is presently in charge as the party chief, is said to have expressed confidence that with the return of MLAs Ngursanglur and Thangkholun Haokip restructuring the RJD organisation would be expedited.

Apart from the party's objective of ensuring election of atleast 10 party MLAs when the forthcoming State assembly elections are held, Prof Kumarjit confided to the party workers and functionaries that pre-poll alliances with like-minded parties would be worked out in order to either form or be a part of the next Government.

Meanwhile, Thangkholun Haokip has explained that owing to absence of commitment to affairs of the party and indifferent attitude at the time of District council elections RJD central leaders terminated Hellauddin Khan as the State unit RJD president with Yamkhongam Haokip replacing Hellauddin Khan.

He also pledged to work at his personal best for progress and development of the State RJD.
