Imphal, November 14 2008:
The District Level Development Co-ordinating Team (DCT) Federation, Tamenglong district has reiterated its call for ousting of the Border Security Forces (BSF) from the Oniamlong primary health care centre.
In a statement released to the press today, the president of DCT Federation, P.Damsuak pointed out that even as Tamenglong is a prime example of neglect by the government in various sectors, the PHC at Oinamlong is yet another addition to the long list.
The housing of BSF in the Oinamlong PHC over and above its long period of neglect is a major source of hindrance to the work and functioning of the health centre, and this has disabled people in the area from accessing the needed health facilities, the statement said.
Stating that even the primary requirement of doctors, nurses and other related facilities are absent here, the statement added that apart from a solitary nurse, there are no doctors or other staff in the said PHC.
Questioning the government's apathy to the situation, the DCT further called for urgent intervention in this behalf from the government at the earliest possible.
Should the government continue in its stance of neglecting the aspirations of the people, it should be held responsible for all inconveniences caused to the people in the wake of any stringent action taken up by the DCT to pursue its demands, the statement said.
