Pari Puri Athouba Ningshing Lup (PPANL) observed Patriot's Day at Ancestral Heroes Memorial Complex, Ningshingkhun, Jiri yesterday, reports our correspondent.
Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS) Minister N Biren Singh, PPANL Chairman S Kula Singh, CDC MU Director RK Ranjan Singh, Jiribam Municipal Council Chairperson Nonigopal Bardhan, Zilla Parishad Member Ph Montessori Devi, Jiri Ima Meira Paibee Apunba Lup President K Subhasini Devi were the chief guest, president and guests of honour of the function respectively.
The chief guest in his speech urged to follow the footsteps of the patriots.
He also said that infrastructure building process is in progress to make Jiribam a full fledged district.
The day was also observed jointly by All Jiribam United Clubs Association (AJUCA), All Jiribam Meira Paibee, AMAWOVA Jiri branch at AJUCA office yesterday.
Apart from paying floral tributes, two minutes silence was also observed as a mark of respect of the departed patriots.
In connection with the occasion, AJUCA also distributed sign boards to various clubs on which slogans and teachings of the departed patriots were written.
Thumkhong Lairembi Youth Club, All Manipur TammiChingmi Apunba Nupi Lup, Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup, Meitei Union Sadar Hills, Manipur and Thoubal District United Women's Development Organisation also observed the day.
All Assam Manipuri Students' Union, Karbi Anglong District Committee and Meira Paibi Lup, Bokajan subdivision also jointly observed the 119th Patriot's Day yesterday.
Meetei Council Moreh, All Community Development Organisation Moreh, AMSU Chandel District Committee, Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup Moreh, KhaNongpok Apunba Nupi Lup Moreh, Muslim Development Association Moreh and Minority Women Society Moreh jointly observed Patriot's Day at Moreh Kondong Lairembi Haraobung.
Students of Ester Sine School recited poems in the function attended by people from different sections of the society.
AMSU observed Patriot's Day in 29 Schools of Imphal East, 25 schools of Thoubal district, 23 schools of Imphal West district and 19 schools of Bishnupur district.
Main function was observed at DM College of Science for AMSU Hqs, CC Higher Secondary School for Imphal East district, Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School for Thoubal district and S Kulla Women's College for Bishnupur district.
