A FOUR member delegation led by MPP president, Dr L Chandramani today left Imphal for New Delhi to lodge complaint with the Election Commission of India with regard to the alleged widespread proxy-voting at each and every polling station in Andro Assembly Constituency during the election to the Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency.
The MPP will lodge complaint with the ECI stating that the franchise of the electorate in Andro A/C had been deprived of by proxy-voting in the Assembly segment.
The four member delegation led by its president included MLAs of the MPP, O Joy, Dr I Ibohal and candidate of the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, former union minister, Th Chaoba.
In an interaction with before leaving for New Delhi, Chandramani said they are going to lodge complaint with the ECI on the mass proxy voting which was done by the Congress in Andro A/C had not only snatching the right to franchise of the electors but also tarnished the image of democracy practice of the country.
They will also press the ECI authority for re-poll at all polling stations in the constituency for the sake of strengthening the democracy practice.
Further speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, the MPP president said the ruling congress had committed the wrong only to get elect its nominee in the election and they also wrongly use the machineries of the state election office.
Congress colluded with the state election authority and appoints polling personnel of Congress choice at the polling stations, Chandramani said adding that the delegation will called on with the Chief Election Commission, Navin Chawla and put the matter before him.
The state election authority first declared most of the polling stations in Andro A/C as hypersensitive polling stations but later in the last minute of commencement of deployment of security all have been turn into normal so as not to deploy armed Central security forces.
After declaring as normal polling station, unarmed security personnel were deployed on the poll day.
Taking the advantage of it, congress workers committed widespread proxy voting, he alleged.
MPP will produce all the necessary documents to proof the charges before the CEC, he said adding that for giving more harden political pressure, the party will also take helps of the NCP leaders at the Centre.
The party is doing this only to show that any political party could not do anything whatever they like in the elections.
He further alleged that the ruling Congress has done it taking advantage of the absent of MPP MLA Th Shyamkumar of Andro who is currently in jail.
Mention may be made that CPI is also getting ready to fly to Delhi for lodging copmlaint with the ECI for re-polling in 16 polling stations.
