Imphal, January 24 2010: Worried over the fate of their children who have been rescued at Chennai, parents have joined together and are considering to bring back the children to Manipur.

The parents have been communicating with the Child Welfare Committee to bring back the children.

Of the 17 children rescued at Chennai, the eldest is named Lourembam Roshni and is just 12 years old.

She is the daughter of one Lourembam Narsingh of Nambol Lourembam.

Parents of the rescued kids assembled together at the house of Narsingh today and communicated with the Child Welfare Committee in a bid to bring back the children to their native State.

Talking to this reporter at the house of Narsingh, the parents said that one Samom Herojit (27) s/o Janmajoy of Nambol Lourembam and one Rakesh of Sawombung took away the children together on the pretext of giving them schooling in a Christian school at Chennai.

Of the 17 kids, six belong to Lourembam, two to Kodompokpi, one to Meijrao, one to Leimapokpam, two to Sanjenbam, one to Sangaiprou, one to Nambol Oinam, one to Senapati Sabal and one to Thounaojam.

Herojit took Rs 10,000 for each child with the promise that they would be given free schooling at Chennai where they reached on July 28 last year.

Once they reached Chennai, no communication was allowed between the children and their parents.

Suspecting something amiss, the parents questioned Herojit but hie simply dismissed the worries of the parents saying that frequent communication would make the children feel home-sick and they may insist that they be brought back home.

On persistent insistence by the parents, they were allowed to talk with their children only once in a month, on the 20th day.

Strangely, the children said that they were all right and that they had no intention of coming back home.

One Jugeshwar, uncle of a kid named Shitaljit visited the children some days back.

Shitaljit held the legs of his uncle and pleaded to take him home, narrated the parents.

The suffering of the children was confirmed when two bigger children staying in the same house threw out pieces of paper beyond the compound wall of the house with names, addresses and telephone numbers of the children kept in the house.

Saying that they trusted Herojit as he is a relative, the parents now wanted to take befitting actions against Herojit for his betrayal and criminal activity.

"He should not be allowed to go scot-free under any circumstances", the parents cried out.
