THE PROSCRIBED People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) will observe tomorrow (November 12) as "Black Day".
Aheiba Angom, Secretary in-charge, Department of Publicity and Propaganda, today stated in a press release that the party has been observing the 12th of November every year as "Black Day." On this day, the party honours the leaders and cadres of Red Army who have laid down their lives in the struggle for liberation and offers revolutionary salute to them.
Aheiba Angom appealed to the people of Manipur to pay respects to the departed revolutionaries and light lamps on the graves of the martyrs at night.
He also appealed to the people not to organise excessive entertainment programmes on the day.
Narrating the story of how November 12 has come to be observed as the "Black Day," Aheiba Angom stated in his press release that on this day of 1978, a combined team of CRPF and Manipur Police attacked the transit camp of the party at Kameng hill during which leaders of PREPAK namely Gambhir, Dhiren and Kabikanta sacrificed their lives for the revolutionary movement.
Again on this same day of 1985, the party's supreme leader Loyataba @Tulachandra was killed while he led an offensive on the post of 7 MR who were guarding the Sugar Mill at Kabowakching.
Considering the two days as most important day for PREPAK, the party has been observing November 12 as the "Black Day" for the past many years.
The party offers tributes and pays respects to all the other martyrs of PREPAK who have sacrificed their lives for the struggle of liberation on this day.
The party takes the pledge that as a result of the many sacrifices made by the leaders and comrades, party will surely give the people the flag of freedom, Aheiba Angom stated in his press release.
