Imphal, October 22 2009: Setting dateline to end deadlock on class boycott stir within this current month October, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has convened a public meeting on November 2 to seek people's mandate on their future course of step in the effort to reopen schools at the earliest.

If no development comes up to the matter of closer of the schools due to the ongoing class boycott stir during this current month, October, DESAM will convene a public meeting on November 2 next to discuss on the matters, president of DESAM, LC Santoch said today.

The meeting, proposed to hold at Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT) Palace Compound at 11 am, will discus on the matters ahead of the students by the prolong class boycott stir, said the president added.

The main principle of the students' body (DESAM) is to deliver the right to education to the students, he said citing that the proposed meeting is to be convened considering for the cause of the students community of the state.

An executive meeting of the DESAM has resolved to convene the meeting at 11 am, Santosh added.

No appeal or request to postpone or cancel the meeting will be considered this time.

At any cost, students should be allowed to attain class within this current month October, he said.

To allow resumption of class will be the only objective of the meeting.

Further course of action for re-opening the schools will be depend on the resolution of the public meeting.

Santosh said students are suffering a lot due to the agitations in the aftermath of the July 23 shooting incident as three students' bodies, AMSU, MSF and KSA had announced indefinite class boycott stir extending support to the agitation spearheading by the Apunba Lup and JACs formed in connection with the killing of Ch Sanjit and Th Rabina.

DESAM in association with the All Tribal Students' Union (ATSUM) had planned to hold a public meeting on October 21 last but it was postponed responding to the appeal of the senior citizens and guardians organizations, the president went on to say.
