Fuel outlets down shutters at the smell of 'blockade'

Imphal, November 19 2012: With taking undue advantage of any situation becoming an order of the day, many fuel outlets located across the length and breadth of the State have started closing at the smell of 'blockade' .

The indefinite public blockade announced by Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) has entered only 2 days, but many of the fuel outlets in the state have started closing down, causing problems to the general public.

The public, on the other hand, have also started rushing in to the nearest fuel outlets to get hold on the available fuels.

As such, people in long queues could be seen in front of some of the fuel outlets which are in service in Imphal city today and at the same time, price of petrol sold in black has reached Rs 100/litre.Some of the fuel outlets in Imphal city shut down after opening for some hours in the morning.

After 11:30 am, almost all the fuel outlets in Imphal area were found closed.

However, the PCTC fuel outlet in Khuyathong, where people thronged in huge number satisfied the customers by providing fuels till late in the evening.

Though oil pumps in Imphal city were found closed down claiming shortage of fuels in their pumps, the petrol is seen abundantly available on the road sides and in some shops where one has to shell out as much as Rs 100 for one litre.

Meanwhile, semi low floor buses which are doing service on the roads of Imphal stopped plying from today due to want of fuels.
