Platinum jubilee of Apokpa Marup begins

Imphal, February 26, 2010: A three-day celebration of platinum jubilee of the Apokpa Marup began at Jaribond Laishram Khunda in Hailakanddi district of Assam today.

MLA, O Joy graced the inaugural function as chief guest presided over by the president of the Apokpa Marup, Nongmeikapam Puthiba.

Advisor of Moreh Lai Thougal Lup, Yensenbam Thougamba, editor of Naharolgi Thoudang, Khoirom Loyalakpa, guru of Laiharoaba of JN Dance Academy, E Indira Leima, vice president of All Manipur Recognized Private School Welfare Association, Doren Khaba-nganba attended as guests of honours of the function.

Speaking as chief guest, O Joy recalled the life of Naoriya Phullo who founded the Apokpa Marup in 1930 and said that the period was an important one in the history of Manipur.
