St John's Catholic Church inaugurated

Chandel, October 08 2025: St John's Catholic Church, a new local Church under St Joseph's Parish, Sugnu, was inaugurated on Wednesday at Yangkhelching Khutha village in Chakpikarong subdivision of Chandel district.

The new Church was blessed and dedicated by Most Reverend Dominic Lumon DD, Archbishop Emeritus of Imphal.

The event was attended by 11 priests, four nuns, leaders from various churches and villages besides hundreds of faithful from neighbouring villages and afar.

The newly inaugurated Church will be a combined house of prayer for both Yangkhelching Khutha and Anal Khunou villages which house about 22 Catholic families.

The mass was followed by a beautiful cultural and felicitation event wherein various items were performed in the form of songs and choreography.

Individuals who helped in the construction of the Church in various capacities were also felicitated.
