Imphal, December 30: Fervent appeals from numerous civil society and student bodies continued for safe and early release of Muheni Martin and A Hriini Hubert both ten years old and Standard III students of Don Bosco, Senapati.

The KSO taking grim note of the two students kidnapped on December 14 called upon the captors to release the innocent children at the earliest.

Chandel Naga People's Organisation along with the Chandel Naga Women, Chandel Naga Students and District Naga Christian Forum decrying holding of children captive for ransom categorically stated that such act has no place in the Christian society.

It is unthinkable and unexpected of such act to be committed in our humble and simple tribal society, said a CNPO release on behalf of the district-based organisations and the people.

Fervently appealing to the captors for release of the two children on humanitarian ground in order to mitigate sorrow and anxiety of the parent in particular, and common people in general, the release urged Churches of the district to hold a prayer service on December 31, 2006 and January 1, 2007 for securing safe and sound release of Muheni and Hriini as well as for the well being of the distressed parents and relatives of the missing children.

Meanwhile, Senapati District Employees' Welfare Association, Kangleipak Lamjing Apunba Meiralup (Kwakeithel) and All manipur Muslims (Meitei Pangals) Welfare Association strongly condemning the kidnapping of Moheni Martin and Hrinii Hubert appealed to the captors to release them without further delay.

NNN adds: mass prayer sessions would be conducted tomorrow under the aegis of United Naga Council at Tamenglong, Chandel and Senapati districts followed by sit-in-protest on January 2, 2007 to affect safe and sound release of Muheni Martin (10) and Hriini Hubert (10), whose whereabouts remain unknown till date.

Manipur Alliance for Child Rights (MACR), Imphal also condemned in the strongest term the prolonged detention of the two school kids after kidnapping them for ransom on December 14.A statement issued by MACR also flayed the rape and heartless murder of 10 year old Ichal.

The organisation also urged the State Government to utilise all its resources to book the culprits and deliver prompt justice.

Against the rampant violation of rights of innocent children, a mass rally would be organised on January 5 at Imphal areas informed the State.

MCAR also appealed to all the social organisations, Meira Paibi Lups, representatives of NGOs and the general public to take part in the protest rally.
