An awareness programme on Self Help Groups was organised jointly by NCUICooperative Education Field Project, Bishnupur, District Rural Development Agency, Bishnupur and Moirang Kendra Self Help Groups Co-ordination Committee at INA hall Moirang today.
A statement issued by project officer NCUI, Field Project Bishnupur informed that the programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur Aleng Shimray, Commissioner P Saratchandra and chairman of NCUI Project Coordination Committee Kh Borkeshor as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
While encouraging establishment of SHGs in Moirang A/C, Borkeshore pledged all possible help.
Aleng Shimray noted that financial institutions in Bishnupur district are very poor and is unable to implement SGSY programme fully.
He added that a branch of SBI would be opened in the district shortly and ameliorate the woes of people.
Speaking on the occasion P Sartachandra observed that mobilisation women is necessary to bring about an equitable society in the State.
About 2000 people took part in today's programme, added the statement.
