Imphal, December 26:
The sit-in-protest staged against the order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West, which seeks to open an Army post at the campus of Malom Megha High School at Malom continues till today.
The order was issued on December 19 and the protest started from December 21.Moreover the JAC formed to lead the protest has also decided to intensify its agitation from December 30 if the DC's order is not withdrawn by December 29.Among others the agitation will include imposing an indefinite bandh along Tiddim line.
During the sit-in-protest organised by the JAC Against the Occupation of Malom High School by Security Personnel, the protestors carried placards inscribed with the words, "We are against the order of the Government to hand over the campus of Malom High School to security personnel," "We don't want the security personnel," "Make school area a free zone" etc.
Talking to newsmen at the site where the sit-in-protest is being held, a representative of the JAC said that on December 18 the Imphal West DC along with an Army officer arrived at the school and inspected the campus.
The order that an Army post would be opened at the school campus was then issued on December 19, said the JAC member.
The DC's order will amount to destroying the career of the students, said the JAC member and added that the people too do not want the security personnel in their midst.

The Chief Minister as well as other related officers and departments have been approached to withdraw the DC's order, said the JAC member and added that memoranda to this effect have also been submitted to the authority concerned.
