It is now official.
Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is scheduled to touch down at Tulihal airport on November 27 at 10 am and leave the next day at 8.30 pm.
Following the confirmation of the PM's date, Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh convened a meeting today wherein all HoDs were present to discuss the itinerary of the high profile visit.
Moreover it has also been decided that the foundation of the Tipaimukh multi-purpose project will be laid at Parbung and not as planned earlier.
Speaking to The Sangai Express an official source said that the Prime Minister will arrive here on November 27 and leave the next day.
The Prime Minister Office is however yet to intimate the itinerary of the visit as well as the details of the visit.
To discuss the steps to be taken up by the State Government for the visit, Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh today convened a high level official meeting wherein top civil and police officers attended.
The meeting was held at the mini-conference hall of the Secretariat, South Block.
The meeting discussed at length on where the Prime Minister will stay, where his entourage will be put up, the gates to be put up to welcome him and his team as well as the beautification drive to be taken up for the visit.
The works to be executed by the different Government Departments have been notified, said the source and added that the State Govt has started the spade work to welcome the Prime Minister.
Contrary to earlier plans chalked out by the State Government, the foundation stone of the controversial Tipaimukh dam will be symbolically laid at Parbung and the foundation stone will then be taken to its exact site later.
The Prime Minister is also expected to lay the foundation stones of the National Sports Academy at Khuman Lampak, Loktak Downstream Project at Thangal village, Manipur Institute of Technology at Manipur University and Cultural cum City Convention Centre at Palace compound.
Public meetings will also be held at Kangla and Churachandpur where the Prime Minister will address the people.
Beautification drive at Imphal has started in right earnest ahead of the Prime Minister's visit.
Significantly the anti-dam lobby led by ACTIP had earlier announced they would boycott the PM's visit.
