Imphal, November 13 2011:
The Movement for Tribal People's Rights (MTPRM) has said that it does not think it necessary to participate in the public hearing conducted by the Committee on Re-organisation of Administrative and Police District Boundaries (CRA&PDB) .
A press statement issued by its president S Ramhaoleng said, as MTPRM being an organisation representing the whole tribal population of the State, the body's participation and giving suggestions, views and opinions are not convenient.
The issue is very sensitive and critical as it relates to territories and boundaries, the statement added.
It further said that the CRA&PDB must not try to absorb the tribal land bordering valley districts as the exercise may be detrimental to the hill-valley relationship.
As the body has decided not to appear in any public hearing of CRA&PDB, MTPRM said, CRA&PDB must not entertain anybody who claims entertain anybody who claims himself/herself as a representative of MTPRM.
MTPRM further clarified that the body never sought appointment for participation in the hearing as reported in some sections of the media.
