A new president of the BJP Manipur State Unit would be elected on December 15.Party's state returning office Kh Dinamani has issued a notification in this regard today.
Even as the three year tenure of present president Dr Haobam Borbabu lapsed in 2008, his tenure was extended because of the 15th Lok Sabha elections.
Along with a new president, two National councillors, one representing the Inner and the other representing Outer would also be elected on the same day.
The elected National councillors enjoy franchise in the election of the party's national president.
For the scheduled polling, submission and withdrawal of nomination papers would be done on December 14
Around 75 representatives of the party selected from the 60 Assembly constituencies of Manipur and the party's 12 'political districts' would vote for election of president and councillors.
Ahead of the presidential election, elections for both committees would be held between October 23 and November 12 .
Elections for mandal/kendra committees would be held between November 13 and 27.This would be followed by election for district committees and state councillors from November 28 to December 13 .
The party's state unit has initiated necessary actions for the polling.
Party workers have also started consulting amongst themselves on who should be elected next president of the unit.
