Imphal, October 11: Acknowledging deplorable conditions of the Pallel-Chandel road, Chief Minister O Ibobi has assured to complete repairing and development work of the road by December this year.

Accepting that such road could not be found at any other place, he said that he felt ashamed of the road.

Earlier Ibobi laid the foundation stones for construction of mini Secretariat and Krishi Kishan Kendra in Chandel district Hqs.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Chandel SDO office in addition to the administrative block and boys' hostel of United College, Chandel.

Later speaking in a public meeting at Chandel Indoor Stadium, Ibobi reiterated his appeal to all UG groups not to hinder development works.

While advising them to monitor implementation of development works in the interest of the people, he asked them to book all individuals involved in foul play or fund embezzlement, whether he be a Chief Minister or a Minister.

Regarding Chandel water supply plant which has been laying incomplete, he said strict instructions were given to the contractors and officials concerned to complete the same.

However the Chief Minister appealed to the people to ascertain reason behind the slow pace of work.

He asked the people to find out whether it was because of non-payment of bills or shortage of construction materials and to inform him directly by telephone.

Disclosing that hospitals with a capacity of 50 beds would be built in all the headquarters of hill districts, he disclosed that Rs 62 crores have been sanctioned to electrify all the villages of Chandel district which have not been electrified yet.

He also noted that out of total 4854 electric consumers in the district, 2500 are unauthorised consumers.

Moreover, the electric consumers of Chandel district owe Rs 5.17 crores to the Department.

Out of these, Government departments' due is Rs 40 lakhs.

The Chief Minister also conveyed his helplessness to provide electricity if the due bills are not paid.

In his presidential speech, Power Minister Francis Ngajokpa asserted that every body including pastors have given up the sense of truthfulness, he appealed to all to stop seeing things with jaundiced eyes.

He further clarified on the alleged rumour that Rs one lakh would be necessary for recruitment as police constable as nothing but complete lies.

Speaking on the occasion, Education Minister L Nandakumar disclosed that he had appealed to the striking part time lecturers to suspend their stir more than once.

He had told them clearly that he would consider to increase their salaries but ruled out any possibility to regularise or promote the part time lecturers as there is no such provision.

The extreme step to terminate their service was compelled by the stubborn attitude of the striking teachers, said Nandakumar.
