Guwahati, February 10:
Unidentified gunmen fired shots at the vehicle of NE TV Chairman Manoranjana Singh in the wee hours today but she and her two CRPF security guards escaped unhurt.
The attack took place at around 0230 hours in Nepali Mandir area here when the NE TV Chairman-cum-Managing Director was on her way to office at Rehabari, CRPF IG Mehboob Alam
told PTI.
The gunmen fired eight bullets at her vehicle, he said adding Sinh and her two security guards survived the attack.
Alam said the attackers sped away in their vehicle, adding a massive hunt had been launched to track them down.
"At this point of time it is difficult to identify them as investigations are on," he said.
The International Federation of Journalists, holding a seminar in the city, condemned the attack.
"This is the first instance of a direct attack on the the media.
The culprits have to be identified," it said.
