To work out a solution to the dilemma faced by the State unit of the BJP over the restrictions placed on its activities by an underground organisation for associating with former MP Th Chaoba, BJP MP and National general secretary of the party, Thawarchand Gehlot is all set to brief the party's high command of the true picture of the situation here.
Gehlot who has been entrusted with the task of studying the situation here, in the backdrop of the upcoming Assembly election amid the restrictions imposed on the BJP by an underground organisation, arrived on a two day visit to Imphal today.
Zonal organising secretary of the BJP, North East, V Satish also arrived with Gehlot today.
Straight on their arrival, Gehlot and Satish drove to the BJP office and discussed the threats and restrictions imposed on the party by an underground organisation.
Former president of the State unit BJP and National Executive member Th Chaoba and some BJP MLAs could not attend today's meeting at the party office.
However BJP MLA and member of the party's disciplinary committee, M Bhorot attended the meeting.
Speaking to newsmen after the meeting at the BJP office, Gehlot said that the issue surrounding the party vis-a-vis Th Chaoba was discussed threadbare today.
Some party leaders were in favour of removing Chaoba from the BJP while others stood by the former MP, said Gehlot.
The different opinions and suggestions have been taken due note of, he added.
On what he plans to do, Gehlot said that once he returns to Delhi, he would submit a written report to the party's high command.
The final decision will rest with the high command, he said adding that the decision may be taken according to his feedbacks.
Th Chaoba may also be summoned by the high command before a final decision is taken, added Gehlot.
To a question whether the BJP and the JD (U) will go in for a pre-poll alliance in the next Assembly election as the two are partners of the NDA at Delhi, Gehlot said that the matter will be decided by the party's high command.
President of the State unit BJP Dr H Borbabu said that today's meeting centred around the difficulties and the restrictions the BJP has been facing during election times.
Discussions were also held on the likely inconveniences to be faced in the next MP and Assembly polls.
The opinions of the party members were also taken into consideration.
The members present at today's meeting also urged Gehlot to take the initiative to ensure the success of the BJP in latter elections.
