Imphal, October 06 2009: For allegedly defying their 'stop education' movement, the AMSU, MSF and KSA have declared indefinite ban against 10 schools/institutions from the academic session of 2010 .

A joint press release issued by the three student bodies identified the defiant schools as Chaoyaima Hr Sec School, Nimaichand High School, Vision Creative of Sciences (Thoubal Okram), Somandrasana Hr Sec School (Thoubal Kshetri Leikai), Abiram Fancier (Thoubal Okram), Sophia English High School (Thoubal Wangma Taba), Haokha Primary School (Thoubal Haokha), Maimom Suresh Coaching Centre (Haokha Wangma Taba), Bright Career Academy (Thiyam Leishangkhong) and Anganghal English High School (Wangoi).

In case, authorities of these schools suspend class immediately and tender an apology through media within two days, the decision of the student bodies may be relaxed a bit.

They asked how long security forces would protect the Central Government schools and some schools located in Thoubal district which are still conducting classes.

Saying that the AMSU, MSF and KSA may take up such actions that may cause even grievous harm to all, the student bodies asked the school authorities whether they can bear the responsibility of such casualties.

They also asked the parents if they bear the consequences.

It was a misplaced concept if anybody thought that suspending classes instead of targeting the Government was suicidal.

It is a strategy of the ongoing movement and 'nobody wants to commit suicide', the student bodies clarified.

Claiming that they have undertaken only 10 percent of the activities they are capable of, the AMSU, MSF and KSA vowed that they would teach a befitting lesson to those school authorities run by highly sectarian people.

They appealed to parents/guardians not to send their children to schools likely to face trouble.

All those concerned with the education of students should also understand that an anti-people Government may sound the death knell of the whole society.

Acknowledging that the economic blockade/total blockade on highways, general strike and class boycott are the modes of agitation most disliked by the people of Manipur, the student bodies alleged that the Ibobi-led Govt was responsible for the misery caused to the people due to economic blockade imposed by a student body on the National Highways for 52 days a few years back.

Alleging that Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has not flinched a bit despite the protracted the class boycott movement, the student bodies asserted that incumbent Government is responsible for keeping away students from schools all these days.

Saying that the hardships of the people would aggravate as long as Ibobi remains Chief Minister of Manipur, the AMSU, MSF and KSA alleged that Manipur has witnessed the longest national highway blockade, massive protest movement by press/media, maximum number of killings by security forces, most frequent days of curfew and the longest period of class boycott since Ibobi took over as Chief Minister of Manipur.

Ibobi has been running the Government only with military and money power.

Under this principle, the Government made extra efforts to suppress the people's movement with brute force.

However, as the people's movement could not be subdued with military power alone, the Government has now started hiring some individuals and organisations to criticise and speak against the people's movement.

Addressing those organisations and student bodies which appealed for alternative modes of agitation in place of class boycott, the AMSU, MSF and KSA reminded that they too should share the responsibility of saving the nation.

In case they come forward with a commitment to make the movement a success, the AMSU, MSF and KSA would raise no objection to any proposal for other modes of agitation rather than class boycott.

However, the student bodies reserved the right not to welcome appeals from organisations/student bodies who have not participated in the current people's movement for a single day.

They would be viewed as mouth-piece of the Government, they stated.
